Welcome to St. John's Primary School, Gilford
A very warm welcome to St. John’s Primary School!
At St. John’s, we are proud to be a joyful, inclusive, and faith-filled school community where every child is valued and supported to reach their full potential. Rooted in our Catholic ethos and guided by our motto, “Learning through Love and Laughter,” we strive to create a nurturing environment where children feel happy, safe, and inspired to learn.
Our dedicated staff work closely with parents, carers, the parish, and the wider community to ensure that each child experiences a broad and balanced education, tailored to meet their individual needs. We celebrate the uniqueness of every pupil and take pride in our commitment to inclusion, reflected in all areas of school life—including our Little Blossom SEN SPEYF class, which plays a vital role in our vibrant school family.
Through high-quality teaching, a strong sense of community, and a deep respect for the dignity of every person, we aim to help our pupils grow in confidence, kindness, and faith, preparing them to be positive and responsible members of society.
We hope our website gives you a sense of the warmth and spirit of our school. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like to learn more—we would be delighted to welcome you to St. John’s.
With warmest regards,
Mrs Sorcha Lyness
Principal

BLYTHSWOOD SHOEBOX APPEAL
This week, our School Council asked if we could once again support the Blythswood Shoebox Appeal — and we’re delighted to say yes!
A leaflet was sent home with the eldest child in each family before school finished. We would be extremely grateful if, during your midterm break, you could consider picking up a few extra items while shopping and donating a filled shoebox to this very worthy cause.
Please remember not to include items such as: Chocolate, loose sweets, lollies or undated bags of sweets.
A £3 donation per shoebox is requested to help cover shipping costs. If you’re donating more than one box, you only need to complete one money envelopeand include the total amount inside.
Please note: each shoebox must have an item list attached to the outside, and remember to wrap the box and lid separately.
You can also donate online to help speed up the delivery process:
Donate now at www.shoeboxappeal.org
Thank you so much for your continued support — it truly makes a difference!
Pick up of the shoeboxes will take place on Monday 10th November so please ensure they are sent to school on or before this date.
