End of Year Mass 2026 & Farewell to Two Special Colleagues
Today our school community came together for a truly meaningful occasion – our End of Year Mass. It was a time for reflection, gratitude and celebration, marking important milestones for many within St John’s.
We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to making the day so special. To Father Loughran, we offer our heartfelt appreciation for his continued guidance, support and spiritual leadership. It was wonderful to welcome him back among us. His words and presence bring such depth to our celebrations, and we wish him good health while assuring him of our continued prayers.
To our parents and families, we express our thanks for being such a valued and vital part of our school community. It has been a privilege to work in partnership, particularly throughout the seven-year journey of our Primary 7 pupils here at St John’s.
A special word of thanks goes to all the staff of St John’s for their ongoing dedication, care and teamwork. Their commitment—both seen and unseen—helps to make our school such a nurturing and special place. We are especially grateful to those who prepared so carefully for the beautiful Mass: Mrs McCarthy, Mr McParland, Mr King and all those classroom assistants and support staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. Our thanks also goes to Mrs Power, Mrs Brennan, Miss Lennon and our wonderful school choir, whose singing brought such joy and reverence to the celebration.
For our Primary 7 pupils, the day marked a very special milestone. Over the past seven years, St John’s has been their second home—a place where they learned, grew, laughed and discovered who they are. It has been a true privilege to watch each of them develop into the young people they are today. As they prepare to move on to their new schools, we wish them every happiness and success and encourage them to embrace the opportunities ahead.
The day was also one of mixed emotions as we marked the retirement of two much-valued members of our school community—Mrs Grimley and Mrs McCrory. Mrs Grimley has served the children and families of St John’s for 31 years, and Mrs McCrory for the past 12 years, both showing outstanding dedication and commitment. We thank them sincerely for all they have given to St John’s and wish them long, happy and well-deserved retirements filled with good health, rest and joy.
As the day draws to a close, we are reminded that while one chapter has ended, another has begun—for our Primary 7 pupils and for Mrs Grimley and Mrs McCrory. We ask God’s blessing on each of them and on our entire school community as we look ahead to the future.
We thank everyone who helped make the day such a memorable and heartfelt celebration.
